Lovely

I love the chords used, and the nonharmonic tones (7ths, 9ths) truly make this a beautiful piece! One thing I would comment on is the lack of dynamics with the exception of the very end. This piece is just asking for a climax, and make it longer! I want to hear a main melody that repeats itself, leaving me with a memorable tune in my head. Other than that, this is very expressive and thoughtful. Nicely done! 4/5, 9/10

yayness! LOL. and thanks a lot! It certainly asks for a climax. Unfortunately i have no set ideas when i Improv. I forget how i played it most of the time. Although i do play ear. so i could just stop being lazy and make a better one by listening to it. :D thanks a lot fdor your reviews kind sir/ess! :D:D:D

Not bad!

Some nice melodies, and I like the instrumentation. Some of the chords surprised me- in a good way...very interesting. I love the flute and the wind chimes, and of course the piano fits nicely. I liked the sense of moving forward, which was helped by the changing time signatures midway through. I would have liked to hear a more clear climax to the piece, the whole thing is beautiful, but it lacks the "special moment" that all great pieces have. Other than that, well done! For a 13 year old composing only for a year this is actually quite amazing!! Keep it up, I'll be looking for your name in credits in a few more years. 4/5, 8/10

Check out my other pieces! =)

why?

I don't understand how this has 107 downloads...

Exciting!

I'm right there with you on the "inspiration" powers...sometimes I lose hours of sleep just because I can't go to bed happy with what I've done and must do more! I love the tritones and neapolitan chords :D
If I were to say one thing, it's that I hear a lot from the upper voices and not as much from the lower end of the sound spectrum. Maybe it's just my speakers. Was this influenced by Howard Shore? I hear some LOTR-esque motives, but all in all this is very original. Also good choice with the EWQLSO sounds, and I think I heard the Choirs in there too. Nice work! 5/5 10/10!

nice!

chord progressions remind me of Sum 41 or New Found Glory

Evil-Dog responds:

New found glory, errr..... :)

Very good, again!

I gave you two 10/10's already, so this time I'll be slightly more picky...only a 9/10, although had I heard this one first, you would have gotten a 10.

The drums are awesome, but I think you could introduce them at a lower volume to add more effect to the climax. Just a thought. Everything else is amazing. Keep it up, and you'll be on the top of the charts!

NICE!

I wish more people submitted music like this on Newgrounds.

Good choice with the EWQLSO sounds :) (correct me if I'm wrong)
Which program do you use to run them? More importantly, how many gigs of RAM did you need to be able to load all that epic sound at once?

Well done!!

D3vilsheep responds:

I have 4 gigs of RAM technically but can only use 3 since I run XP. I use Cakewalk's Sonar for my MIDI sequencing (when writing orchestral music). Sadly I have no good mastering plugins anymore so I just use the default Cakewalk stuff. You're right on about the EWQL...as a fellow composer should be. Thanks for the kind words. :)

Good ear!

I know from experience that it takes a TON of patience putting on paper what one hears in a complex orchestral piece. Great piece, too.

Woohoo!

Great "feminine cadence" at the end! (I assume it's a loop)

Ciao

GREAT WORK!

Dave, I gave you a 5/5, but it only changed the rating by .000063 points. Wish I could have been of better help, but it looks like you don't need it! You machine. Say hi to Tibbetts for me.
