I wanted to thank those who have provided me with feedback on the short cues I have been writing this Summer. You have no idea how much it has helped with mastering, improving audio balance, orchestration, and virtually every aspect of producing better sound. For that, I'm in all of your debt- thank you so much.

The reason I'm saying this now is because the Summer is almost over, and I will soon be traveling abroad to Italy for a semester and won't be bringing my computer. It's going to be a long three months without composing for media, but a necessary break to finally go out and see something other than a computer screen. I'm leaving September 6th, and getting back December 7th. I'll try to check NG every once in a while in an internet cafe over in Italy, but chance are I'll be too busy to contribute much to the website. Most likely, my absense will hardly be noticed, as there is an abundance of great music and professional advice constantly being added to NG. I wish you all well, I'll be back before you know it.

Lastly, I recently purchased Cubase 5, which has superb new reverb called "REVerence". Cubase 5 is almost worth the purchase just for the reverb...it is AMAZING. You can add the reverb to fake VST's as well as live performances, and you wouldn't be able to tell that the added reverb is artificial. I've touched up most my pieces with this new reverb, and will have everything touched up by the time I leave in a few weeks. Thank you for reading all the way through, and best wishes with all your projects!

This summer I will be upgrading to Cubase 5 (I currently use Finale 2008). There are some short-term setbacks to this decision of mine...it may take a few weeks to figure out how to use this new program, and probably won't be composing as much music as a result. I'm also investing in a 49-key midi controller, probably this one:

MIDI-Controller?sku=706314

If anyone has advice on which midi controller to purchase, I'd be glad to hear it!

In the long run, these additions will dramatically boost compositional efficiency and music quality, bringing you higher quality orchestral music in a shorter amount of time. This will all happen most likely within the next month, so in the meantime I will still be writing quite a bit. Thank you, and enjoy the music!

I am currently a sophomore at the University of New Hampshire studying composition. My primary instrument is the trombone, and I also play piano. I started composing music regularly as a freshman in high school, and since then it has really been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I write primarily for orchestra in a post-romantic style, but I also write for piano, string quartets, brass or woodwind quintets, and many other smaller settings. With my music I hope to take over the world some day...but first I'd love to write for video games or movies.

Here's a shortcut to my music page:

Equipment used:
Finale 2008

EWQL Gold Pro XP Symphonic Orchestra, Symphonic Choirs, RA, Colossus, Stormdrum, Percussive Adventures 2, Bosendorfer Piano

I always appreciate feedback!
Thank you, and enjoy the music!
